Parish Council

CCTV

Shorne Parish Council operates a closed circuit television (CCTV) system covering strategic areas of the parish to deter and reduce crime and antisocial activity, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for members of the public, and to prevent the loss or damage to property. The images may also be used to identify vehicles in breach of traffic regulations, such as width restrictions.

A privacy impact assessment has been carried out, and the CCTV scheme is registered with the Information Commissioner under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

It is not intended to monitor individual members of the public going about their normal lawful activities.  As such, the images recorded shall not be processed or used for any information gathering or for data management purposes.  In any event, CCTV recordings shall normally be automatically deleted after a suitable period.  Other than for routine testing purposes, images shall not be actively monitored, and recorded images shall not normally be accessed except in the event of an incident or reportable crime.

Images shall not be shared with third parties, other than the Police or other authorised enforcement agencies when investigating incidents or reportable offences.
