Parish Council

The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Shorne Village Hall is now operational.

The AED is easy to use, with clear audio and visual instructions provided.  It is accessible 24 hours a day via a code which is provided by the 999 operator in an emergency. A useful 10-minute familiarisation video can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5ZPLXdXPBc The AED was jointly funded by Shorne Parish Council and Shorne Village Hall, and supported by a KCC Member’s grant sponsored by Gravesham Rural Councillor Bryan Sweetland.

1st and 3rd NOVEMBER 2018 – LOWER THAMES CROSSING – HIGHWAYS ENGLAND PUBLIC INFORMATION EVENTS

Highways England are holding two of their Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) public information events close to/in Shorne Parish on the above dates.  There are “artists impression” photographs and large scale maps and models of:  the southern portal;  the LTC:A2 junction and the A2 changes;  and the modified route from Gravesend East to the A2 coastbound.  A full set of the consultation documents, with all the associated maps, data and modelling, can be inspected. These are important opportunities for you to explore how the LTC will affect you individually and how it will change the local environment forever.  You will be able to speak directly to involved Highways England staff and experts and to “have your say” in person. Parish Councillors will also be available at these Highways England events for Shorne Parish residents to speak to – we would very much like to hear your opinions of the LTC proposals. The dates, locations and timings are: • Thursday 1st November 2018: Cascades, 2pm to 9pm (Parish Councillors available 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm) • Saturday 3rd November 2018: Shorne Village Hall, 12am to 6pm (Parish Councillors available 12am-2pm and 4pm-6pm)

Lower Thames Crossing video fly-through

There is a very useful video fly through of the Lower Thames Crossing design layout, which helps understand how the existing roads and accessibility will be changed. Shorne West (and Gravesend East and Riverview) residents should note that so far in the A2 junction design there will no longer be direct and easy access to the A2, the Parish Council will continue to challenge this on your behalf.

LOWER THAMES CROSSING UPDATE

Highways England have announced that the Lower Thames Crossing statutory consultation phase will start next Wednesday 10th October and run until Thursday 20th December. As previously, there is no need to respond rapidly – it is better to read as much of the (vast) accompanying documentation as you can and then include everything that you want to say. There will be a Highways England public information event at Shorne Village Hall on Saturday 3rd November (midday to 6pm) and others at e.g. Bluewater 20th October (9-9) and 21st October (11-5), Cascades 1st November (2-9) and Gravesham Civic Centre 21st November (2-9). The Parish Council will provide more information once we have been able to read the documentation ourselves.

Parish Council Drop-In Session, Saturday 13th October

The next Parish Council drop-in session will be held between 10am and midday on Saturday 13th October in the Small Hall at the Village Hall. This is your opportunity to call in to discuss any local issues or concerns, or just to say hello to your local parish councillors. Hot drinks and muffins will be available!
